‘Smallville’ Season 10 To Feature Return Of Lionel Luthor And Lois Lane’s Family

Prior to the start of the tenth and final season of “Smallville,” the CW Network indicated that several former cast members and guest stars would be returning to the series. And while Michael Rosenbaum’s Lex Luthor remains elusive, his onscreen father is making a comeback.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that John Glover has agreed to reprise his role as Lionel Luthor in at least two episodes of the tenth season, both of which are tentatively expected to air in November.

Glover last appeared on “Smallville” back in the seventh season, when Lex Luthor murdered his father by pushing him out of a window. It’s not currently known if Lionel Luthor will be resurrected for his appearances, or if he will appear in visions to Clark Kent (Tom Welling) as Jonathan Kent (John Schneider) is expected to.

Additionally, Michael Ironside and Peyton List will also reprise their respective roles as Lois Lane’s (Erica Durance) father General Sam Lane and her sister, Lucy Lane according to TV Guide. Both List and Ironside previously appeared in separate episodes during the fourth season of “Smallville.”

Ironside is a veteran of several genre film and TV series including the original “V,” “Top Gun,” “Total Recall,” “Starship Troopers” “Stargate SG-1″ and “Terminator Salvation.” Ironside was also the voice of Darkseid — the main villain for the tenth season of “Smallville” — on “Superman: The Animated Series” and “Justice League Unlimited.” List is perhaps best known for her recurring role on “Mad Men” in addition to her appearances in “Monk,” “FlashForward” and “CSI.”

Laura Vandervoort, Michael Shanks and James Marsters are also confirmed to return during the tenth season of “Smallville.”

“Smallville” will premiere on Friday, September 24.
