TWITTER REPORT: Comic-Con Preview Night, Odin’s ‘Thor’ Throne And ‘The Walking Dead’

If you weren’t able to grab a flight out to Comic-Con International in San Diego this year, Twitter makes for a fine alternative. The show opened up for its annual Preview Night Wednesday, and nearly everyone present from the Twitter Report feed had an opinion, a picture or both. Marvel’s recently anointed senior VP of creator and content development C.B. Cebulski posed for a shot in Odin’s throne, which is on display there along with Thor’s hammer. Eric Powell, meanwhile, wandered over to the “Walking Dead” exhibition, and David Petersen was working on a Severus Snape commission.

Various lost things were found as well, such as a “Tron” press manual and $40 in the middle of the street, judging from Cameron Stewart and R. Stevens’ respective tweets. Mark Waid unfortunately was busy working, but he would appreciate it if you had a chance to pick up one of the con’s Starro exclusives for him. All of these adventures and more await you below.

I’m @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for July 22, 2010.

@BRIANMBENDIS San Diego! And the first thing I see are Showtime’s condescending bus ads. Biff bam pow? Really? Go f— yourselves.
-Brian Michael Bendis, Writer (“New Avengers,” “Ultimate Spider-Man”)

@CBCebulski The first perk of my new position? A new chair: It’s good to be the King! :)
-C.B. Cebulski, Sr. VP, Creator and Content Development (Marvel)

@Lea_Hernandez Holy crap. #SDCC preview night has morphed from a nice low attendance relaxing evening to CON OF THE DAMNED.
-Lea Hernandez, Writer/Artist (“Rumble Girls,” “Killer Princesses”)

@goonguy Can’t wait for this show!
-Eric Powell, Writer/Artist (“The Goon,” “Action Comics”)

@mouseguard Working on a Snape commission
-David Petersen, Writer/Artist (“Mouse Guard”)

@MarkWaid Okay, Surely there is SOMEONE at #SDCC who can bring me a Starro in exchange for swag and gratitude. Yes?
-Mark Waid, Writer (“Kingdom Come,” “Incorruptible”)

@jpalmiotti Saw mark waid working hard at the boom booth. Someone bring him a starro please
-Jimmy Palmiotti, Writer (“Jonah Hex,” “Painkiller Jane”)

@cameronMstewart Found a lost Disney press manual for the new Tron movie. Somebody probably needs this.
-Cameron Stewart, Writer/Artist (“Batman and Robin,” “Sin Titulo”)

@rstevens Found $40 in the street and turned it into my first-ever room service at a hotel. Being served creeps me out but I don’t mind being lucky.
-R. Stevens, Writer/Artist (“Diesel Sweeties”)

@JhonenV @rstevens That’s awesome! Me? I lost $40 in the street. Now I am just $40 shy of that major operation I need to live.
-Jhonen Vasquez, Writer/Artist (“Johnny the Homicidal Maniac,” “Invader Zim”)

Parting Wisdom for the Day:

@Todd_McFarlane ART LESSON:For beginning artists out there. When drawing a person/hero draw the body 1st then the head last. This’ll keep head in proportion
-Todd McFarlane, Writer/Artist (“Spawn,” “The Amazing Spider-Man”)
