Warner Brothers Home Entertainment has officially announced that “Superman/Batman: Apocalypse” will be released in September. The film will feature Kevin Conroy and Tim Daly back once again in their iconic roles as Batman and Superman, respectively.
According to TV Guide, Summer Glau (“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”) will portray Supergirl within the film.
“Superman/Batman: Apocalypse” will be directly adapted from “The Supergirl From Krypton,” by Jeph Loeb and the late Michael Turner, which first appeared within the pages of “Superman/Batman” in 2004. In the story, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman mentor Supergirl after she arrives on Earth during a Kryptonite meteor shower, before she is abducted and brainwashed by Darkseid into becoming the new leader of his Female Furies.

While the first “Superman/Batman” film was heavily influenced by the style of Ed McGuinness, it’s currently unknown if this film will take it’s cue from Turner. However, the box art and screencap from TV Guide seem to suggest that it will differ significantly from its predecessor.
The film will also come with a “Green Arrow” animated short, which was hinted at back in February. Producer Bruce Timm has previously indicated that “Green Arrow” was once under consideration for a full-length animated feature and may still have its shot, if the reaction to the short is strong.
