Walton Goggins has signed on to appear in "Cowboys & Aliens," according to Deadline. However the report doesn't specify which character Goggins will portray within the film.
Goggins is perhaps best known for his role as Shane Vendrell on "The Shield" and his more recent turn as Boyd Crowder on "Justified." Goggins has previously appeared in "CSI," "The Bourne Identity" and "Criminal Minds" in addition to the upcoming "Predators" film. Goggins is also attached to star in a new remake of "Straw Dogs."
In addition to Goggins, "Cowboys & Aliens' boasts a stand-out cast headlined by Daniel Craig, who plays a mysterious gunslinger that rallies a group of cowboys and Apache Indians against an alien invasion. Olivia Wilde, Harrison Ford, Sam Rockwell, Noah Ringer, Paul Dano, Keith Carradine, Clancy Brown and Adam Beach also star within the movie.
"Cowboys & Aliens" was created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg before it was adapted into a graphic novel by writers Fred Van Lente & Andrew Foley and artists Dennis Calero & Luciano Lima. The screenplay by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci ("Fringe") and "Lost" co-creator Damon Lindelof reportedly makes several changes to the original story, while maintaining the basic concept and 19th century setting.
"Cowboys & Aliens" is expected to land in theaters on July 29, 2011.
