Adriana Barraza could be the latest addition to the all-star cast of director Kenneth Branagh’s upcoming adaptation of “Thor.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Barraza is in negotiations to portray one of the human characters. However, her specific part has not been disclosed. Barraza is perhaps best known for her Oscar nominated role in “Babel.” Her most recent American film was Sam Raimi’s “Drag Me to Hell.”
If Barraza comes onboard the film, she will join the already impressive lineup of actors including Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Rene Russo, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Colm Feore, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson and Tadanobu Asano.
Anticipation for “Thor” has been steadily building for months, thanks in part to effusive praise from Brian Michael Bendis and Marvel Editor-In-Chief, Joe Quesada.
"It's going to be pretty epic, and regardless of what you think it's going to be, it's going to surprise people," Quesada told MTV News during last month’s “Marvelous Color” event. "It's an interesting piece for a superhero movie. It's going to change the conventions of the superhero movie."
Earlier this week, Paramount and Marvel Studios announced that the release date of “Thor” would be pushed up to May 6th, 2011 — in light of recently revealed production delays for “Spider-Man 4.”
“Thor” is rumored to begin filming next week in Manhattan Beach, California.
