Viewers on both sides of the Atlantic have been sounding off about David Tennant's send-off from "Doctor Who" in the two-part "The End of Time" story that concluded last week. "DW" comic creators Tony Lee and Pia Guerra were among them.
"Avatar" is still on everyone's minds as well, though, with the film globally passing the $1 billion mark. Comics industry tweeters have been pointing out similarities to "The Last Samurai" and "Dances With Wolves" for a while, but PJ Holden was the first I've seen who drew a parallel between James Cameron's film and "The Ant Bully." Check out his retweeted assessment after the jump along with Erik Larsen on Neal Adams' Batman cowl, some Mike Oemming "Powers" pages and Marc Bernardin's bold statement about "The Hobbit."
@pauljholden watching The Ant Bully with Nathan - blimey this is an identical plot to Avatar...
-PJ Holden, Artist ("Judge Dredd," "The 86ers")
@mrtonylee It feels wrong somehow to be writing Tennant's Who mere days after he turned into Smith.
-Tony Lee, Writer ("Doctor Who," "The Gloom")
@PiaGuerra At the office, wondering how I missed that was an intergalactic gay bar at the end of Doctor Who. Show tunes and everything!
-Pia Guerra, Artist ("Y: The Last Man," "Doctor Who: The Forgotten")
@ChrisSamnee Pretty sure I'm still not totally awake. Just did a sketch of Hercules getting ready to throw a boulder at a cyclops talking on a cellphone.
-Chris Samnee, Artist ("Siege: Embedded," "Area 10")
@JamesDRobinson Just found out Black Canary went back in time and had an affair with the Viking Prince in BoP 29. WTF?
-James Robinson, Writer ("Starman," "Action Comics")
@marcbernardin @melcaylo they really are. And I think Del Toro is a better filmmaker than Jackson, so I've got VERY high hopes for The Hobbit.
-Marc Bernardin, Writer ("The Authority," "The Highwaymen")
-Mike Oeming, Writer/Artist ("Powers,"The Mice Templar")
Parting Wisdom for the Day:
@ErikJLarsen Neal Adams knew that we didn't need to see how Batman's cowl was stitched together-- Neal's Batman was an improved reality.
-Erik Larsen, Writer/Artist ("Savage Dragon," "The Amazing Spider-Man")
