There's been a lot of buzz surrounding the upcoming two-part "Smallville" arc "Absolute Justice" — and not just because of the involvement of comics scribe Geoff Johns. Along with introducing Michael Shanks as Hawkman, the story will also debut a few more members of DC's Justice Society of America: Doctor Fate (Brent Stait) and Stargirl (Britt Irvin).
And now Entertainment Weekly offers our first images of the JSA trio in costume — including the expected showdown between Hawkman and Green Arrow, who never did see eye-to-eye in the comics world.
"Absolute Justice" kicks off February 5 with the first of two episodes bringing the JSA into the "Smallville" universe. Previously, Shanks revealed some details about the version of Hawkman he'll play in the series.
“When we first meet Carter Hall, he’s in his museum," said Shanks. "We’ll learn he’s a reincarnated prince from a thousand years ago. There is a reference to The Justice Society’s time in the ‘70s, but we have since disbanded.”
And if the image below is any indication, the character is staying true to his roots as a hit-with-mace-first, ask-questions-later hero. The other image provides the very first look at Doctor Fate and Stargirl, though there hasn't been much talk about who will be under Nabu's helmet for his television debut.
