According to Entertainment Weekly, Grier’s first appearance as Waller will come in the second half of the highly anticipated “Justice Society” two-part episode by comic scribe Geoff Johns.
Created by writer John Ostrander as the leader of the “Suicide Squad”—a team of supervillains forced to go on black ops missions for the government—Amanda Waller was nicknamed “The Wall” for her refusal to back down to anyone… even Batman.
Waller was previously portrayed by CCH Pounder in the animated series “Justice League Unlimited” and more recently in “Superman/Batman: Public Enemies.” Waller is also rumored to appear in “Super Max” and the “Suicide Squad” movie that was announced earlier this year.
Grier is perhaps best known for her role as “Foxy Brown” during the height of the blaxploitation era in the ’70s. She is also widely known for her titular role in Quentin Tarantino’s “Jackie Brown” and for her stint on “The L-Word.”
Additionally, TV Guide has confirmed earlier reports about the return of Serinda Swan as Zatanna later this season. The actress—who has since been cast in “Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” and “Tron Legacy”—stated that she will reappear early in 2010 in an episode tenatively titled “Warrior.”
