The Balloon Boy, Brian Bendis' 10th Anniversary And 'Time Jumper' In Today's Twitter Report

DaredevilThe comics community watched with the rest of the Twittersphere yesterday as the saga of the balloon boy played out in Colorado. Joe Hill, Ron Marz and Frank Tieiri were also among those calling shenanigans on the whole affair.

Meanwhile, there may not have been any balloons, but Marvel provided a cake yesterday for Brian Michael Bendis to celebrate his 10-year mark working for the company. Plenty of congratulatory tweets predictably ensued, and we echo them, as he's proven himself to be quite the script marathoner during his time there. Scope out those posts after the jump, along with a Bryan Lee O'Malley tweet from Ubisoft HQ, Sean Phillips on his new "28 Days Later" cover and more.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for October 16, 2009.

@joe_hill The runaway balloon story has, definitely, acquired a rather dubious odor. I'm not calling bullsh--, but if it was an egg I wouldn't eat it.

-Joe Hill, Writer ("Locke & Key")

@ronmarz Also, balloon boy's dad said sometimes the kid "cowls down." What you mean is "cowers down." Buy a dictionary, doofus.

-Ron Marz, Writer ("Witchblade," "Green Lantern")

@FrankTieri So this balloon kid thing basically turned out to be nothing more than an episode of Dennis the Menace, huh?

-Frank Tieri, Writer ("Wolverine," "Iron Man")

@BRIANMBENDIS Marvel threw me a suprise 10th anniversary party. Tom cutting the dd cake. I'm very moved by all this. What a week

-Brian Michael Bendis, Writer ("New Avengers," "Ultimate Spider-Man")

@Remender @BRIANMBENDIS Seriously, ten years is one hell of a millstone for a writer in this industry. Congrats!

-Rick Remender, Writer ("Fear Agent," "Punisher")

@radiomaru Ubisoft lobby playing a trailer for a game that I can only imagine is called "Grand Theft Auto: Vin Diesel"

-Bryan Lee O'Malley, Writer/Artist ("Scott Pilgrim vs. The World")

@seanpphillips Drawing a 28 Days Later comic cover today. Why did I offer to do it as a wraparound?

-Sean Phillips, Artist ("Sleeper," "Criminal")

Parting Wisdom for the Day:

@smilinstanlee When we haveta do sequels to Time Jumper, think of the possibilities-- Time Leaper! Time Skipper! Time Hopper! It doth boggle the mind!

-Stan Lee, Writer ("The Amazing Spider-Man," "Ravage 2099")
