'Jonah Hex: No Way Back' Graphic Novel To Coincide With 'Hex' Movie

Jonah HexLegendary comic artist Tony DeZuniga will be returning to one of his most famous creations in “Jonah Hex: No Way Back,” an original graphic novel with the current “Jonah Hex” writers Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti.

According to DC's official blog, the graphic novel will be released in May 2010 in conjunction with the upcoming “Jonah Hex” movie starring Josh Brolin, Megan Fox and John Malkovich. Additionally, DeZuniga was also responsible for the genesis of this project; according to Gray.

“Jonah Hex has a brother,” revealed Gray. “That’s the idea that came up decades earlier in discussions between writer John Albano and Tony DeZuniga. Tony casually mentioned this to us and that idea has been brought to life in the hardcover. Bold, brazen violent and surprisingly tender, this is the consummate tale of the Wild West’s greatest bounty hunter.”

While it’s unclear if Hex’s brother will be from his adopted Native American family or his actual brother; Palmiotti teases that the storyline will push Hex over the edge.

“We unleash the beast like you have never seen before,” Palmiotti said.

“Jonah Hex: No Way Back” is the latest high profile “Hex” project announced for next year. Back in July, it was revealed that Hex would star in one of the new “DC Showcase” animated short films.

The live-action “Jonah Hex” continues to make headlines as well. Earlier this summer, Megan Fox exclusively told MTV News that director Jimmy Hayward is positioning the film for potential sequels.

Given the number of side projects already attached to “Jonah Hex”, it seems clear that Warner Brothers believes that this might be one of their next big franchise film series.
