With "Spider-Man 4" gearing up for production and two planned sequels beyond that, it's clear that Peter Parker is going to be on the big screen for many years to come—but how about his ferocious nemesis Venom?
What is known, however, is that a screenplay exists for the film and Sony is ready to get the symbiotic ball rolling.
Alongside Rhett Reese, Wernick co-wrote both "Venom" and the upcoming "Zombieland," which Marvel fans can look towards for an idea of "Venom's" quality. Sadly, it might be a little while before Venom himself actually graces the big screen, as Wernick was unsure of when the film would begin production.
As the co-writer of the film, Wernick is clearly privy to "Venom's" story details, including how Spider-Man fits into the big picture if he's in it at all—but don't expect the scribe to spill the beans on that front, either.
"We can't really talk about that, unfortunately," Wernick said. "Basically, the studio and Marvel and the Arads are taking our drafts and going beyond and figuring out what's the next step."
In the meantime, we'll have to be content with words of wisdom from past "Venom" creators—even though the film's screenplay is trucking along nicely, it's going to be a bit of a wait before we learn anything extensive about the movie.
