Jack Kirby, Deadpool, And People Dying To Work At Marvel In Today’s Twitter Report

Super Hero Squad, eat your heart out. Rob Liefeld posted a great pic from Deadpool Day last night, and I hope that’s a Federal holiday, because it sounds like it should be. (Liefeld continues to one of the greatest reasons a comic book reader can use Twitter, but feel free to disagree in the comment section.)

What you definitely shouldn’t disagree with is the great advice Marvel’s art hunter C.B. Cebulski often posts on Twitter. Today, he tweeted some depressing info, calling out prospective Marvel employees for playing the “I’m dying” card when trying to get work. If I’m ever on my deathbed, I do not want to have to have those kinds of deadlines to worry about—but that’s just me.

Read on for those posts, along with Erik Larsen’s take on the recent Jack Kirby family challenge to Marvel. It’s in the Twitter Report for September 22, 2009.

@CBCebulski Yes, three people have now played the “I might not live much longer so please help make my dream of working at Marvel come true” card.

@philhester … I opine I’d rather see one of my creations drawn in Sharpie on a high school kid’s jacket than win an Eisner.
-Phil Hester, Writer/Artist (“Irredeemable Ant-Man,” “Green Arrow”)

@cameronmstewart Someone altered my Wikipedia entry to read, simply: “Cameron Stewart is a 9 year old boy.” And then someone else changed it back.

Parting Wisdom for the Day:

@ElijahBrubaker Don’t tell a 4 year old you’re going to shoot her with an alien cannon that’ll make her explode. #fb
