Bryan Lee O'Malley Debuts 'Scott Pilgrim' & 'Gem Fighter' Mash-Up Poster For PAX

Scott PilgrimJust in time for this year's Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle, "Scott Pilgrim" creator Bryan Lee O'Malley has a new poster ready to send in his absence—and video game geeks should take note.

O'Malley has been foreshadowing the reveal of the new print on his Twitter account this week, dropping hints and offering a contest up for anyone who could guess which characters would appear.

"It's a parody/homage of 'Gem Fighter'/'Pocket Fighter,'" O'Malley posted in his Flickr account. For a comic that has previously integrating imagery from "Super Mario Bros. 3," "Sonic the Hedgehog" and "Double Dragon," his latest choice from Capcom's game catalog should come as no surprise.

Up until this morning, all the Canadian cartoonist would say was that he would be featuring 10 characters from his comic and that artist Dylan McCrae would provide coloring. After inviting speculation from his followers, the first full look at the poster popped up today in his Photostream.

"Attention: I am not able to attend PAX; I am sending an awesome poster in my place," he wrote yesterday via Twitter. "[I]t's a massive 18x24 blindingly colorful 'Scott Pilgrim' piece with 10 characters. And it's a video game homage!"

The final roster of characters for the image includes Scott Pilgrim along with his girlfriend Ramona Flowers, roommate Wallace Wells, sister Stacey Pilgrim, former love interests Knives Chau and Envy Adams, Sex Bob-omb bandmates Stephen Stills and Kim Pine. They are also flanked by Stephen's sometimes-girlfriend Julie Powers and Ramona's ex, Gideon Graves.
