Ray Park Still Covets 'Iron Fist' Role, Predicts 'Heroes For Hire' Movie

Ray ParkIn last week's rundown of "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" actors' connections to comic books, I reminded you that Ray Park once courted the coveted role of Danny Rand in an "Iron Fist" adaptation. Apparently, those days aren't over.

At last weekend's Wizard World Chicago, an audience member asked the erstwhile Darth Maul what his dream role is. According to Comics Alliance, the actor didn't hesitate in calling out the martial arts-savvy superhero Iron Fist as his first choice of characters to play.

"I actually want to be Danny Rand -- I want to be Iron Fist, I want to do it," Park said. "I've been blond before. I'll work on the American accent as well."

Park joked that one of the main reasons he wants the role is to shake off his trademark ninja clothes and Sith robes for something a bit more revealing.

"I want to have an excuse to take my top off and show off my abs," he joked. "Or, take my top off and work to get my abs back that I used to have when I was 19."

The actor, currently showcasing his martial arts prowess as Snake-Eyes in "Rise of Cobra," spoke about his former attachment to "Iron Fist" in 2001 when the movie's rights were held by Artisan Entertainment. Now that the rights have reverted back to Marvel, Park said that Danny Rand's eventual onscreen debut won't be a solo film -- it'll be with Iron Fist's longtime friend and ally, Luke Cage, in a "Heroes for Hire" movie.

"If they ever do an 'Iron Fist' movie, it's going to be with the two [characters] teaming up," he said.

Park is clearly enthusiastic about the prospect, and his excitement isn't entirely unfounded. Back in March, reports circulated that an "Iron Fist" movie was once again on Marvel's to-do list, giving Park plenty of incentive to work on those fabled 19 year-old abs.

Is Ray Park still the right choice for "Iron Fist," or should the role go to a different actor? Would you rather see Danny Rand in "Heroes for Hire" or his own film?
