Unreleased 'The Middleman' Episode To Be Read At Comic-Con

The MiddlemanParting with a favorite television series is hard enough when a show concludes by design, but fans of ABC Family's "The Middleman" were left high and dry when the series was canceled last year. Fortunately for those attending this summer's San Diego Comic-Con International, io9 reports the series' stars are slated to perform a reading of the final, unmade episode "The Doomsday Armageddon Apocalypse."

Based on the Viper Comics series by writer Javier Grillo-Marxuach ("Lost") and Eisner-nominated artist Les McClaine ("Jonny Crossbones"), "The Middleman" adaptation was originally planned to run for 13 episodes on ABC Family Chanel, but was canceled after 12.

Fortunately for those with lingering questions, the Comic-Con panel will provide a kind of synchronized multimedia send-off to the entire franchise with Grillo-Marxuach, McClaine and artist Armando M. Zanker releasing the final comic book installment as the television series by Shout!Factory debuts on DVD and the "lost" 13th episode is read by the show's entire former cast.

"The Middleman" tells the story of starving artist Wendy Watson (Natalie Morales) as she's recruited by her temp agency to battle paranormal evil alongside the enigmatic Middleman (Matt Keeslar) sponsored by the "Organization Too Secret To Know."

Rooted in comedy and science fiction, the campy series shrouded its titular hero in mystery and left a romantic attraction between the two protagonists unresolved. However, "The Middleman" blog teases that, "All your burning questions will be answered -- and all your burning answers will be questioned." Perhaps burn-resistant clothing is warranted?

The panel takes place Thursday, July 23 at 11:15 a.m.

How about it "Middleman" fans, will you be checking out the final reading at SDCC? Excited for the final installment of the comic book series? Share your "Middleplans" in the comments.
