While Palin is indeed brawling in at least one comic — Devil’s Due Publishing’s “Barack the Barbarian” — Bluewater instead opted for a non-fiction series about prominent figures such as Oprah Winfrey and Condoleezza Rice, several of whom appear in the new “Female Force” collection.
“We have seen there is a considerable market for this type of comic,” announced Bluewater president Darren Davis. “We believe this issue of collected life stories will be the first of many volumes.”
The first four issues of the series assembled in the new volume detail the lives of Palin, Obama, Clinton, and Caroline Kennedy. The book also contains a forward by Debbie Walsh, the director of the Center for American Women and Politics.
Bluewater seems extremely ambitious with their new quest to exploit a non-fiction niche in monthly pamphlet comics that few companies have touched in recent decades. IDW’s Barack Obama and John McCain comics got a lot of publishers thinking last fall, though, and now we have books like “Female Force” on the racks to show for it.
I’m still holding out for a “Female Force”/X-Presidents team-up, though.
