EXCLUSIVE: Bradley Cooper Keeps 'Green Lantern' Poker Face -- But Is There More To The Story?

Bradley Cooper“Wedding Crashers” scene-stealer Bradley Cooper is the most visible actor in “The Hangover,” a June 5 comedy with tremendous advance buzz. Having seen the flick, I definitely agree that he seems likely to break out with the funny film about four friends who wake up after a wild night to find a trashed hotel room cluing them into the insanity of the previous evening.

The film takes place in Las Vegas, and I recently traveled to the city of sin to talk to the 34-year-old actor. This seemed only appropriate, since he’s either completely clueless about reports that he might soon play The Green Lantern, or he has one hell of a poker face.

"Well, uh, I mean I don't know anything about it,” Cooper told MTV News. “But I love that comic book.”

Word on the street was that Cooper was going to officially screen test for Martin Campbell’s comics-to-film adaptation sometime this week. And although rumors have surrounded the Green Lantern name for so long now that it seems he’ll never appear on screen, I figured I’d ask Bradley whether it was true.

“Not true,” he said simply. When I asked if he was in talks to play Hal Jordan, he said "Nope."

So let the word go forth:

In brightest day, in blackest night

Bradley Cooper is escaping Martin Campbell’s sight

Let those who worship gossip’s might

Beware the allure of a “Hangover” star’s light

Oh, but then there’s one more thing I should tell you. At one point, I asked Bradley Cooper why he didn’t want to be The Green Lantern, and he responded thusly:

"Oh no, I didn't say that. You said I am in talks."

"So, maybe?" I asked.

"I don't know,” said Cooper.

So, we might just want to forget that earlier poem after all. Either way, I’d still prefer to see Common.

Bradley Cooper, Chris Pine, Common or someone entirely different? If and when Green Lantern ever makes it to the big screen, who would you like to see wearing the ring?
