Hugh Jackman booked Tempe, Arizona, into his travel plans this week when the city won its very own "Wolverine" premiere, which is set to take place on Monday. Amid all of the last-minute scenes from the film being released and lingering chatter about the leaked version of the film last month, Jackman sounds pretty content to travel down to California's neighboring state and hobnob with comics fans.
"They are very passionate," Jackman told AZCentral.com. "And they tell me exactly what they think -- what they like and what they don't like."
And Jackman seems to be taking to the role of comic book geek ambassador to the general public these days, between his fanboy praises and recorded message inviting non-comic book buyers to show up at their local shops for Free Comic Book Day and give the medium a try.
The "Wolverine" actor expressed high expectations for taking the film's premiere on a road trip, calling opening night a huge event no matter where it is held, a view that has carried over from his early days in theater.
"You've got reviewers in there," he said. "You've got a real sense of occasion. If there's one thing Hollywood is good at, it's building up a sense of occasion."
