The third issue of Marvel's famously delayed six-issue series "Ultimate Wolverine Vs. Hulk" finally hit shelves last month, and while writer (and "Lost" co-creator) Damon Lindelof has never been shy about taking blame for the long period between issues hitting shelves, his efforts appear to have paid off with impressive sales -- and hefty amounts of praise -- for the series' return.
Now, with the debut of the "Ultimate" version of She-Hulk in last month's issue, and next week's chapter promising to make the showdown between Wolverine and Hulk a three-way brawl, Lindelof took some time to chat with MTV News about the series and offer an exclusive preview of "Ultimate Wolverine Vs. Hulk" #4.
What characters can we expect to see in the remaining issues? Will Wolverine retrieve the lower half of his body before or after its been through Hulk's digestive tract? We pressed the hardworking writer for answers.
"My main goal is to try to get my universe finished before the Ultimate universe ends," Lindelof told MTV News. "It took me so long to deliver the scripts that the Ultimate universe is now ending catastrophically in 'Ultimatum.' Having cameos in my book, when in ['Ultimatum' writer Jeph] Loeb's book they’re already dead, is... very telling."

Continuity problems aside, Lindelof said there's still a lot of story left to tell in "Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk" -- and a crowded list of characters he wants to write into a story while he has the chance. With only two issues remaining after next week's chapter hits shelves, Lindelof and artist Leinil Francis Yu have managed to rip Wolverine in half, introduce a new character and put both of the title characters through some unique twists and turns in their respective Ultimate universe histories.
"Issue #4 basically tells Ultimate She-Hulk's origin story," explained Lindelof of his plans for the second half of the series. "Through #4, 5, and 6 there are cameos from Marvel characters I always wanted to write for. You’ll see Iron Man and Captain America and Nick Fury before it's all over."
