EXCLUSIVE: It’s ‘The Goon Vs. Dethklok’ In New Dark Horse Comics One-Shot — Get Your First Look!

It’s no secret that Eric Powell’s “The Goon” is one of our favorite comic book series around Splash Page HQ, but even though we’ve seen the star of the award-winning series partner with Hellboy for an occasional team-up adventure, this is one match-up we didn’t see coming. We’re proud to announce that this summer The Goon will face the likes of “Dethklok” band members Nathan Explosion, William Murderface and the rest of Adult Swim’s “Metalocalypse” cast in a new one-shot issue titled, appropriately enough, “The Goon Vs. Dethklok.”

Written and drawn by “The Goon” creator Eric Powell alongside “Metalocalypse” creator Brendan Small, the special will hit shelves in July 2009. Check out the exclusive promo video created by Small for “The Goon Vs. Dethklok” below:

Feel like your face was just rocked off by the merest hint of this collaborative effort? Yeah, same here. After the jump, see the full cover to “The Goon vs. Dethklok” and get everything we know about the series thus far.

For those not in the know, “Metalocalypse” is an animated series that chronicles the daily goings-on of the members of Dethklok, a part-American/part-Scandinavian death metal band that has become the seventh-largest economic entity in the world and has become a veritable — and very dark — force of nature. How their adventures will involve The Goon is unknown at this point, but you can be sure that none of the Dethklok members have met anyone quite like the hero of Powell’s quirky, noir-horror series.

What do you think of “The Goon vs. Dethklok”? Worried that it might be too metal for the average reader? Think The Goon can handle the Dethklok band members?
