‘Monster Attack Network’ Adaptation Next For Disney And ‘Witch Mountain’ Director Andy Fickman

He’s currently got the #1 movie in the country to his credit, taking down “Watchmen” in the process, but it looks like director Andy Fickman will soon be trading alien witches for humongous monsters with his next project.

According to a report on First Showing, Fickman (“Race to Witch Mountain”) has been pegged to direct Disney’s upcoming adaptation of AiT/PlanetLar’s “Monster Attack Network,” which follows an elite squad of first responders who are tasked with guarding a tropical paradise from a seemingly-constant barrage of attacks via giant monsters. As the report mentions, Disney hopes to make “Monster Attack Network” a special effects-heavy tentpole, built around the as-yet-undecided cast of characters and Godzilla-like monsters. Clearly, this adds to earlier reports that Disney plans to hop aboard the superhero flick bandwagon after a dismal summer 2008 slate of films, with their first comic adaptation, Top Shelf’s “Surrogates,” expected to hit theaters in September of this year.
