“One bit of new info I can put out there, I hope I can put out there, is I’m going in today to record with Nigel Godrich, which is major,” Webber recently told Vulture. “It’s an indication that, on every level of this film, it’s pretty much the best of the best of the best working with it.”
Webber’s news regarding Godrich was first called out by The Playlist earlier today, and the producer will have a unique challenge ahead in sculpting the on-screen band into a convincing group of musicians — but his selection demonstrates lofty creative ambitions for the project.
“I’m being given the opportunity to see if I can cut it, and if not we’ll work something else out,” Webber said, indicating that Wright isn’t married to having all of the actors’ perform vocals for their musical numbers. Only the coming production weeks in Toronto will tell for sure whether they are up to the task.
