One of the most popular and recognizable superheroes in the DC Universe, Green Lantern is unlike Batman or Superman in that his near-unlimited power comes from an alien artifact (a ring, powered by a “lantern” battery) that has changed hands many times over the years. In 2007, Warner Bros announced that the “Green Lantern” movie would focus on one of the most popular and memorable Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan — a cocky test pilot given the ring by a dying alien who sought someone “utterly honest and born without fear” to replace him.
Ideally, the man who will be Jordan should have good looks, a strong jaw and be played by someone a little more mature than Anton Yelchin. Though he’s reportedly 27 in the movie script, Hal Jordan of the comics has served in the Air Force, graduated college, and spent years flying experimental aircraft before he becomes Green Lantern. As fans have repeatedly voiced their preference for an “older” actor, we’ve followed suit with our picks below — and echoed a few of the most popular names:
Who do you think would make the perfect “Green Lantern” lead? Is there a Hal Jordan out there that fits the bill? Let us know in the comment section!
