‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ Spoilers In New Deadpool Action Figure?

Leaked “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” movie trailers may not be the only culprits out there giving away “Wolverine” movie spoilers these days. What appears to be a new Deadpool action figure from Hasbro’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” movie toy line has surfaced on the ’Net — and he comes packaged with some previously unseen facial disfiguration.

One of the intensely speculated issues regarding the live-action debut of Marvel’s “Merc with a Mouth” is whether the character will stay true to his comic-book source material and become horribly disfigured as a result of the government-sponsored experimentation on his body. All we’ve seen of the movie character thus far has been the decidedly un-scarred face of actor Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool in the film — but the new toy depicts a decidedly different Deadpool.

As contributors to Deadpool fan site The Deadpool Bugle point out, the new figure seems to be lacking a proper mouth, which could be an issue of lighting and poor detailing — or we could be looking at a major reveal about Reynolds’ character, which has yet to be given much screen time in the “Wolverine: Origins” trailers.

A disfigured Deadpool would certainly be true to the character’s comic book roots. In his comics origin, he suffered the equivalent of a cancerous ugly stick to the face when he was endowed with a powerful healing factor, which then screwed him up in the head and left him looking like dried-up raw hamburger meat.

This new version of Deadpool wasn’t on display last week at New York’s Toy Fair, but keen-eyed bloggers have spotted him hanging around on toy racks. According to a member of the Marvelous Forums, the scarred version of Wade Wilson can be found in Wal-Mart, among other retail locations.

What do you think of the new bare-faced Deadpool figure? Have you spotted any other details on the new Hasbro toys that might relate to the new “Wolverine” film? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
