After several months of news regarding the "Watchmen" lawsuit and the current rumors about "Iron Man 2" casting issues, it was totally understandable to be a bit...concerned...when news broke earlier this week regarding "extensive" reshoots for "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" (especially considering the film's own history of behind-the-scenes conflicts). However, might those reshoots be serving to make the film -- dare we say -- even more badass?
That seems to be the rumor that IESB.com is reporting today, claiming that the reshoots currently taking place in Vancouver were to add more of Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool to the film. The article further hints that -- since the reshoots mostly involved Deadpool and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) -- that Marvel's resident "Merc with a Mouth" stands to be a major character in the upcoming "X-Men" spin-off.
For you hardcore "Wolverine" fans out there who have been all over the news regarding the upcoming film, you're probably well aware by now that everyone from Jackman to former Fox executive Jeff Katz has been saying that Deadpool will likely be the stand-out character from the first of what will hopefully be a series of "X-Men" spin-offs. That being the case, should these rumors be true, Marvel might be giving Deadpool a much-deserved push into mainstream consciousness, making way for a "Deadpool" solo film in the future.
Would you like to see Deadpool get his own feature film? Or are you reserving judgement until you see Reynolds' take on the character in "Wolverine?" We want to know what you think in the comments.
