The Back-Issue Bin: Dec. 22 – Dec. 24, 2008

It’s a somewhat abbreviated week here at Splash Page HQ, but it’s still been a week chock full o’ interesting bits and bites from the comics and movie worlds. Consider ’em our holiday gift to you, folks.

Here’s what we’ve wrapped up for you this week:

– “The Spirit” hits theaters tomorrow, so there was no shortage of conversation with its stars happening here on Splash Page. Gabriel Macht and Eva Mendes differed on how to approach a potential sequel, while Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson teased a potential post-“Spirit” mystery project for director Frank Miller.

– Last week’s outrageous “Batman 3” casting rumor involving Eddie Murphy playing the Riddler prompted a defense of the rumor by the British writer who first reported it Meanwhile, a representative of Murphy denied the rumors entirely.

David Fincher gave us an update on “Ness,” his adaptation of Brian Bendis and Marc Andreyko’s graphic novel “Torso,” addressing casting rumors involving Rachel McAdams and Casey Affleck and why the project appealed to him.

– Finally, we gave you an exclusive preview of Rick Remender’s upcoming reboot of Marvel’s ongoing “Punisher” series.
