When we last checked in on the production of "Magdalena," a live-action film based on the Top Cow Productions comic book character, co-star Luke Goss referred to the flick as "'The Da Vinci Code' with substance, and more action."
Apparently, the film's producer, Gale Anne Hurd, likes that assessment, describing "Magdalena" in an interview with ShockTillYouDrop.com as, "Kind of like 'The DaVinci Code' meets 'Wanted'. You've got the mythology and a character who isn't initially aware of her legacy which [is] something I love. Many of my films deal with that. And it still has supernatural elements."
Hurd -- whose latest foray into comic films, "Punisher: War Zone," hits theaters on Friday -- was quick to heap praise on the film's stars, namely Goss and Jenna Dewan (who will play the title role, and who we ran a week-long series of interviews with back in September).
"Luke is going to be great for the role [of Kristof, an agent sent to protect Magdalena] and Jenna has steeped herself in this the same way that Ray [Stevenson] has with Frank Castle. We're currently in discussions for a director."
"Magdalena" is set to hit theaters in 2010.
