Boom Studios co-founder and "Eureka" co-creator Andrew Cosby opted to avoid the standard promotional routine this week and instead used a new video to announce a new series of comics based on the hit Sci Fi Channel original series. While it would've been a risky maneuver for most publishers, Cosby was fortunate to have a familiar face drop by for the announcement: actor Ed Quinn, who plays fan-favorite character Nathan Stark on the series.
Cosby, who will be writing the series alongside "Frank TV" writer Brendan Hay, described the print series as the equivalent of a "Season 1.5" for the over-arching story of Eureka, a town full of brilliant scientists whose experiments frequently have unexpected -- and potentially dangerous -- results. According to the video, both Quinn's character -- who is often compared to Marvel's brilliant "Iron Man" billionaire, Tony Stark -- looks to figure prominently in the series along with Erica Cerra's character, Deputy Jo Lupo. Following the debut of the print series, Boom also plans to launch a "Eureka" webcomic written by the series' lead (and "Flash" comics superfan), Colin Ferguson.
You can check out the video after the jump, but be sure to stick around for the outtakes near the end of the clip. It looks like Cosby throws a mean punch!
"Eureka" #1 is scheduled to hit shelves in December.
