Animal Collective Announce Tour Dates Supporting New Album, Centipede Hz

Animal Collective

By Zachary Swickey

Just last month, experimental rockers Animal Collective finally provided details on Centipede Hz – the group’s first album since ‘09’s heralded Merriweather Post Pavillion – and now they have announced a wealth of tour dates to go along with their new anticipated effort.

In support of the new album, Animal Collective have lined up a string of shows all over the map from September through November. The tour kicks off stateside on September 18 in Seattle before wrapping up in Switzerland on November 20.

Judging by the band’s NYC gig in Prospect Park last summer, one can expect the set to be heavy on new material. During their performance, the band tested several new songs (which obviously no one knew whatsoever, though many of them will likely appear on Centipede) before playing a track people were familiar with. All-in-all, they only ended up playing three songs off Merriweather – the album that essentially broke the band after nearly a decade together.

Centipede Hz is set to drop on September 4 through London-based indie Domino Records. The album is expected to come with 11 tracks, but as previously reported, new tunes “Honeycomb” and “Gotham” found on a newly-released 7” will not be included.
