Jack White Sets Release Date For Debut Solo Set Blunderbuss

The ultimate music Renaissance man, Jack White, is all set to release his debut solo record, Blunderbuss, on April 24. Here in the MTV Newsroom, we can’t believe, given all of his various side projects over the years, that he’s only just now getting around to his solo debut!

The album’s first single, “Love Interruption,” will be released today. It will first be available for streaming on White’s official website, and will go on sale at 9pm PT as a digital single.

In a statement, White said, “I couldn’t have released [ Blunderbuss] until now. I’ve put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name. These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors on my own canvas.”

White has had so many musical lives it’s hard to count. He is, of course, best known as one half of the now defunct White Stripes, who officially broke up in February, but has recorded often and very successfully with his side projects The Raconteurs (who we saw at Bonnaroo in 2008 and loved) and The Dead Weather.

Always up for a challenge, White has more recently recorded with Insane Clown Posse, helped Stephen Colbert find “Charlene” again and gone to Rome with Danger Mouse and Norah Jones. One of our favorite White passion projects is Loretta Lynn’s brilliant 2004 album Van Lear Rose.
