Katy Perry Gets Sim-ed, Goes Acoustic

Katy Perry has always been the best sort of pop star cartoon and now she’s officially getting animated. The pop star has hooked up with Electronic Arts for what is being billed as an “extensive and exclusive creative collaboration” between her and The Sims.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that through multiple games (including March’s The Sims 3 Showtime) the singer will appear through content themed after her, including clothing, hairstyles, furniture and props. She’ll also appear in marketing and advertising campaigns for the games.

“I love how you’re able to play out different stories through your Sims characters – giving them different careers and watching them succeed,” she said in a statement. “It’s cool to see the Sims’ stage performances in The Sims 3 Showtime decked out just like my California Dreams Tour – even my cotton candy video screens are in there! I always like to think of myself as a cartoon, and now I’m a Sim!”

Pop star/video game collabos are hardly new. Last year, Lady Gaga hooked up with FarmVille to launch her album, , giving fans exclusive content leading up to the album’s release.

For Perry’s non-gamer fans, the singer just dropped a Jon Brion-produced acoustic version of her single “The One That Got Away.” She dropped the song on Martin Luther King Day on Twitter/iTunes just one day after she was spotted at LAX sans wedding ring/still sporting her blue hair.
