The new year means that some of the hottest ... we mean our favorite ... male musicians will be busy once more after the ball drops on New Year's Eve and everything gets back to normal.
As 2011 comes to a close, MTV Newsroom is looking ahead and rounding up what some of the studliest fellas in the music biz have planned for the coming months. What will the Jonas Brothers, Justin Bieber, Drake, Foster The People and even Justin Timberlake be up to in the next twelve months? Well, you asked and we got the answers!
Joe Jonas will continue his work solo (as an artist and an actor) and Nick will hit up Broadway as the lead in “How To Succeed In Business,” but it seems that the guys just might reunite. All. Three. Guys. You know, with Kevin too. They teased everyone with a new track (“Dance Until Tomorrow”) just this month and made it clear to MTV News earlier this fall that they have every intention of getting the old band back together.
"However, we have started thinking about the next step and what that means for the brothers, and the tone overall is just that we want it to be the right time, and we want to take our time,” Nick dished. (Yay!)
Riding high off the power of 2011, Bieber will once again assault the music industry next year with a brand new album, which may revisit the days when Justin Timberlake first went solo. With plans to work with Drake and Kanye West, Bieber told MTV News, "I want to find something that's going to suit me and my fans are going to love and older people will like and younger people will like. But I'm always trying to keep my core fanbase, because the young people are what make everything cool. Old people look to young people, so [I'm] trying to keep everyone happy."
The Canadian MC will invite fans to the "Club Paradise" when he kicks off his tour starting in February. He also teased his desire to shoot a video with Rihanna for the title single off his latest release. "It's a project where I think visuals are called for, for a lot of those records," he said. "So we're working on definitely the 'Take Care' video, which we're trying to get shot soon and a couple of other ones, too, off the album."
Foster The People
2011’s breakout band will continue to forge their way to rock superstardom in the coming year. In 2012, the band will continue to tour and focus on their next album, a follow-up to Torches. "We've just been kind of throwing everything against the wall, idea-wise, like, 'We should try this and we should try this,' all these different boundaries to work within, because sometimes it can be really daunting, I think, if you don't have certain boundaries when writing a song,” Mark Foster recently shared with MTV News.
While much of Timberlake’s career of late has been focused on his acting career, when a charity drive posting hit the ‘net teasing a possible plan for a tour for the pop superstar, fans immediately began to wonder if the former NSYNC-er had put music back on the plate. Well, we hope that 2012 gives us something to listen to, Timberlake. Side note: He’s also attached to some films like “Inside Llewyn Davis” as well as "Spinning Gold" (both set in the music industry).
