MTV News caught up with Latin pop singer/songwriter Prince Royce as he was getting ready to warm up the stage for Pitbull and Enrique Iglesias at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. The 22-year-old singer's debut self-titled album went double-platinum in 2010, and he is currently prepping material to release two albums in the near future: one being his second Latin album and the other being his first full venture into English pop.
Having gained worldwide attention from his Latin cover of Ben E. King's classic "Stand By Me," the Bronx-born rising star has made it a long way from his poetry classes at age 14 that he credits with sparking his interest in songwriting.
Surrounded by tens of thousands of spectators each night, Prince Royce is out to prove that he has what it takes to join the ranks of the two stars he's currently on the road with.
"It's really an honor for me to be a part of this tour with Enrique and Pitbull -- these international pop stars, hip-hop stars, and for me just to be a part of it, it's really fun for me," Prince told MTV News. "These guys are hard workers."
