Bono, who has had a remarkably solid run on the show despite some leg injuries, less-than-stellar dancing and early criticism from conservative groups about the inclusion of the first transgender dancer on the prime-time reality juggernaut, will also be getting some love from his stepmother, Rep. Mary Bono Mack, half-brother Chesare Bono, half-sister Georganne LaPiere Bartylak and girlfriend Jennifer Elia.
Chaz supporters and Cher fanatics have been waiting all season for the famously feather-loving movie star and pop icon to take a seat in the audience for the program. People magazine reported that Chaz confirmed the blessed news, spilling the beans that mommy dearest will watch the proceedings on Monday (October 10) night.
Up until now, Chaz said Cher has very quietly been “incredibly supportive” behind-the-scenes. But that down low presence is about to change in a major way.
“She texted me right before Monday’s show and said, ’I wanted people to be able to feel your presence and not take away from that and I think you’ve made your presence known now,’ ” Bono, 42 said of Cher’s promise to show up later in the run to allow her son to make his own way first out of her spotlight.
“So I texted her back and I said, ’Okay, so if I make it through this week that means you’ll come to Monday’s show?’ And she said, ’Yes.’ ” Bono and partner Lacey Schwimmer survived the cut last week despite having the worst scores, which means they will get another shot to shine with the paso doble on Monday night.
