Selena Gomez's (Probably Fake) 'Justin' Tat And Other Tatted Pop Stars!

Selena Gomez

While we're pretty sure the "Justin" wrist tattoo that Selena Gomez rocked recently isn’t real, it got us thinking about the number of pop stars who have gotten tats over the years for various reasons, many of which are as personal as Selena's shout out to her boy, Justin Bieber.

Beyonce has an "IV" tattooed on her finger. Of course "IV" is the Roman numeral for "4," which just happens to be Queen B's favorite number, but we'll let her explain:

"We all have special numbers in our lives, and 4 is that for me," she said earlier this year. "It's the day I was born. My mother's birthday and a lot of my friends' birthdays are on the fourth; April 4 is my wedding date."

Lady Gaga has a lot of tats, but only on the left side of her body. Why the left side? "All of my tattoos are on one side of my body, per my father's request," she explained. "He asked that I remain, on one side, slightly normal, so I only have tattoos on my life side."

Miley Cyrus

Even at just 18, Miley Cyrus has acquired a whole bunch of ink. She recently stirred up quite a bit of controversy over her equal sign, a gay rights-inspired tat. "All LOVE is equal," she tweeted about the ink.

"Where does it say in the bible to judge others? Oh right. It doesn't," Miley tweeted to one fan who questioned her belief in God after displaying her support of the gay community. "GOD is the only judge honey. GOD is love."

Britney Spears has a whole bunch of tats as well. She made headlines when she got her fairy tat back in the day, but hasn't stopped since. She's got Hebrew letters on her neck, lips on her wrist and two tats on her inner thighs, one of a cross. We wonder what God has to say about that, Brit!

Rihanna is also an avid inker. How avid? At last count, she had over a dozen, including images like a music note, a Pisces sign, a Sanskrit prayer, a star in her left ear, a trail of stars going down the back of her neck, "shhh..." on her right index finger, a handgun and the French phrase "rebelle fleur."

The gun tat made headlines when she got it back in 2009, just weeks after her assault by Chris Brown. But her tattoo artist, BandBang, insisted it had long been in the works. "We've been playing with it for about a year, and I was at her house, and I suggested she finally get the gun," he told MTV News, adding it represents strength and power.

Comeback kid Demi Lovato revealed her new tat earlier this year: a heart on her wrist. "The journey that I went through and the support of my fans was so meaningful to me that I wanted to thank my fans in a way that I know can never be forgotten," she said. "So I went ahead and I got a little heart tattoo on my wrist… It's something that my fans were actually drawing on their wrists while I was still in treatment. Some people even got tattoos of it, so I wanted to show you guys that I will never forget the support that you guys gave me."
