See ‘Unstoppable,’ Ride The Crazy Train With Red Hot Chili Peppers And Foxy Shazam

It’s Friday once again, and that means that it’s time to take a look at the marquee and see what’s playing at your local cineplex. While many of you are probably already geared up for next week’s release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1,” there are plenty of excellent options this week to tide you over until you can return to Hogwarts. For example, if you want to watch Rachel McAdams be effortlessly charming as a go-getting morning television producer, then “Morning Glory” can help you out. If you are more into effects-heavy alien invasions, then “Skyline” has got what ails you. If true stories are more your bag, then “Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer” will provide tawdry (and real) thrills. And if you’re really, really annoying, go ahead and buy a ticket to “Tiny Furniture.”

Of course, there are some of you (most of the MTV Newsroom staff included) who love watching big, loud action movies featuring out-of-control trains. Luckily, Hollywood has delivered “Unstoppable,” an adrenaline-packed action flick that stars Denzel Washington and Chris Pine as a pair of train engineers who have to slow down a runaway locomotive carrying some sort of dangerous material. It’s inherently dumb, but is also awesome.

To properly prepare yourself for the eye-popping insanity that is “Unstoppable,” take a virtual stroll through the video playlist below. It’s got a ton of train-centric songs (Brandon Boyd’s “Runaway Train,” Soul Asylum’s “Runaway Train,” Elton John’s “This Train Don’t Stop Here Anymore”) and plenty of tunes about not being able to stop (Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Can’t Stop,” Faster Pussycat’s “Nonstop to Nowhere”). But we begin with Foxy Shazam’s “Unstoppable,” a track so manic that it might as well be the song on which the script for “Unstoppable” is based.
