"His mom's been calling during this interview. She just flew in and, basically, he's gonna wanna chill with his family, his kids, too. There's a lot of smiles, I'm pretty sure some people are gonna be crying. ... It's just going to be mixed emotions and a lot of just rejoicing. Everybody is going to be happy to see him and, of course, we have parties coming up."
-Lil Wayne friend and label boss Mack Maine, describing some of the things that will be going down during Weezy's first hours of freedom. After eight months behind bars, the prolific MC was released early on Thursday morning (November 4) to return to his normal life. According to Maine, who spoke to MTV News on Wednesday afternoon (November 3) in the hours leading up to Weezy's release, the rapper will be headed to Arizona to take care of some paperwork related to a plea bargain made while he was incarcerated at New York's Rikers Island. Following that, his first weekend of freedom can start, which will culminate in a giant party surrounded by friend and family in Miami.
"It's gonna be crazy," Maine explained. "We have a private party first and then we going to King of Diamonds after, which is a strip club. It's going to be crazy, it's going to be real elegant, extravagant, we gonna party like when Frank came home, like [the movie] 'King of New York.' It should be a lot of beautiful women, just ... beautiful scenery. Just treat him like a king, like the royalty that he is and make him feel like we really missed him and welcome him back to the family, basically."
