Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.
If any mainstream music star seems indestructible, it's Jay-Z. The guy often calls himself the best rapper alive and nobody bats an eyelash, and even when his albums are hit-and-miss (like his 2009 opus The Blueprint 3), they're still much better than most everything else on the radio (in this way, Jay-Z is a lot like the latter seasons of "The Simpsons," undone only by the perfection that came earlier in its run). But Jigga has been taking some lumps recently, most notably at the hands (or rather, by the tongue) of Hammer (of all people). Jay dropped a pair of lines about Hammer's notorious money problems on Kanye West's "So Appalled," and even though that piece of knowledge has become a well-worn punchline (even to Hammer himself) over the years, the rapper-turned-preacher-turned-television-producer still took exception to the slight and struck back on Halloween night with a track called "Better Run Run." Over a heavy doomsday beat, Hammer accuses Jay of making a pact with the devil and implies that all of his gains are ill-gotten. Jay has yet to respond, and he clearly isn't letting it get in the way of a visit to BBC Radio 1 in London.
Iceberg Slim (does anybody call him that anymore?) wasn't the only star hitting the pavement, as the stars of "Jackass 3D" attended the U.K. premiere and David Beckham watched the Lakers improve to 4-0 with a victory against the Memphis Grizzlies at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
