Spotted: Drake Spits Fire In New Orleans

Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

Though he's mostly identified with Canada (a childhood spent partially in Toronto and a stint on a beloved Canadian teen show will do that for a guy), it is often forgotten that Drake also has roots in Memphis. It's wholly evident in his style, as he tosses in just enough syrupy slowness and round-the-way-blues to remind you that the spirit of the south is alive and well in his rhymes. With that in mind, Drake was right at home on the big stage at this year's Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans. He shared that main stage with Muse, Ozzy Osbourne, My Morning Jacket, Weezer and a host of others, all of whom brought the heat during a delirious weekend in the big easy that also featured the powerful energy of the New Orleans Halloween festivities and a home game for the defending Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints.

Drake wasn't the only star in the field over the weekend, as Ryan Seacrest took in the Los Angeles Lakers game against the Golden State Warriors and the Black Crowes brought their dirty blues shuffles to a Halloween show at New York's Best Buy Theater.
