"Well, I've always sort of written songs about situations in life, things that needed to be said. And I've always thought that, you know, I write songs about people who deserve to have songs written about them, and whatever they need to hear, whatever is the right thing to say to that person — ends up being said."
-Pop-country crossover superstar Taylor Swift, talking about the deeply personal songs that appear on her upcoming album Speak Now. The forthcoming album (Swift's third) is something of a concept album, as each of the LP's tracks is a song written for one person in particular. "Innocent," for example, is about Kanye West, while "Back to December" is about former flame Taylor Lautner. The rest of the songs — and the narratives contained within — will be revealed when the album hits stores on October 25.
It's possible that one of those songs will end up being about "The Buried Life" cast member Duncan Penn, who asked Swift out on a date as part of one of the group's recent episodes (the challenge was to "ask out the girl of your dreams"). Clearly, the men of "The Buried Life" are capable of stealth, as Swift was unaware a show was being taped when Penn approached her. "I had absolutely no idea that that stuff was filmed, so there was this realization when I got an e-mail from my manager," she told MTV News' Jim Cantiello in a recent interview. "And he was like, 'Hey, can you approve this? It's this episode of episode of "The Buried Life,"' and I was like, 'They had a camera on that?'" But did she actually let Penn take her out? "I'm not gonna tell you what happened after that," she teased.
