The 'Dancing With The Stars' Situation: And Out Come The Abs

Though Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino's fortunes seemed to be improving on "Dancing With the Stars," Monday night's (October 11) episode might end up being the nail in the "Jersey Shore" star's coffin. His Argentine tango was pretty brutal, and the rehearsal footage of he and professional partner Karina Smirnoff looked especially problematic (and also sort of dangerous). It's a good thing that he found the time and the opportunity to flash his trademark abdominal muscles, as it seems unlikely that he'll get that chance again on the show.

Each dance was scored twice on Monday night, with one score for technical mastery and the second for performance ability. Out of a possible 60 points, the Situation only managed 28, which put him at the very bottom of the pack (and seemingly light years behind next lowest-scoring contestant Bristol Palin). The judges didn't dress up any of their comments, and Bruno was especially harsh ("It was really, really, really, really, really terrible"). All that probably spells curtains for the Situation, though it's entirely possible that he could eek out another week (though considering his recent heel turn on "Jersey Shore," it's unlikely that he's a fan favorite at the moment).

Elsewhere on "Dancing With the Stars," Jennifer Grey, Brandy and former "The Hills" star Audrina Patridge grabbed the highest scores, with each one putting forth solid performances that made a case for their own personal victory. If anything, Patridge remains a tiny bit underrated, as her execution was extremely sharp (though as the judges pointed out, she needs a bit more character and personality if she wants to challenge for the title).
