Jason Derulo Gets Congratulated For VMA Nomiations With A Song

As soon as the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards nominations were released Tuesday morning (August 3), there was only one person we became immediately obsessed with upon learning them. Sure, we love Lady Gaga and Eminem and Justin Bieber and Katy Perry, but as soon as we saw that Jason Derulo's "In My Head" received two nominations (one for Best New Artist, another for Best Male Video) we wanted to give the song another listen.

And then another. And another. And a few dozen more.

After an hour of spinning it on repeat, we all began singing to one another what just might be the catchiest part of the tune: The part where Jason Derulo sings his own name. We'd turn around and belt out to one another "Jason Derulo" in the newsroom, as we passed by one another in hallways and even at the robotic coffee machine (it's not really robotic, but it's fancy and I'd like to think it's actually a robot who knows how I like my hazelnut latte).

So you could imagine my excitement when I learned that I would be getting on the phone with Mr. Derulo himself to discuss his nominations. While he said some great stuff about being nominated this year, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to thank him for brightening up our day a bit and sing to him that hook of his name. It may have confused him, but at least I got that chance.

Still, despite my exceptional vocal skills, Derulo himself probably does the job a bit better. Check out the proof below.
