Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.
The kick-off concert for the 2010 FIFA World Cup was Thursday night (June 10) and featured Black Eyed Peas, Shakira, John Legend and Alicia Keys in a rousing spectacle full of international flavor. But the biggest sporting event in the world saved the best for last, as at Friday's (June 11) opening ceremony in Johannesburg, South Africa, R. Kelly showed up to formally launch the tournament. The ceremony featured colorful dancing, representation from all 32 participating nations and, finally, Kelly's performance of his official World Cup anthem "Sign of a Victory." Kels' performance was kept a secret up until the moment he emerged from behind those pillars in the middle of the stage and kicked into the inspirational tune. "Sign of a Victory" joins Shakira's "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)," K'Naan's "Wavin' Flag" and a number of other tracks to provide the soundtrack to the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Kelly wasn't the only star getting into the soccer spirit, as actor John Travolta spent some time with the Australian team and Mario Lopez hosted a viewing party of the first game (where Mexico and South Africa played to a draw) at Plaza Mexico in Lynwood, California.
