"[The new album] is going great actually. I've been writing it for the last two years, so this summer it's all about the finishing touches and getting in there in the studio and recording the last couple songs. What do you think [it's about]? Boys and love."
-Country superstar and pop icon Taylor Swift, speaking about her new album that should be done some time in 2010. Just before her performance at Tuesday night's (May 4) Time 100 gala, Swift stopped to talk to MTV News about the upcoming record, which will be her third overall and her follow-up to the massively popular multi-platinum sophomore effort Fearless.
Though the album doesn't have a title or a release date yet, we do know what the themes will be and how Swift develops musical ideas when it comes to creating new material. "I'm constantly writing about what I go through as it happens to me," Swift told MTV News back in November of last year. "I try not to get too backlogged and have to go back. I record all the time, so I've got a lot of songs. When I put out an album, I'd like to think that when people listen to that album it's like a diary of what I've been through in the last two years. So it's a really fun way to express how I feel and what I'm going through." Considering everything she has gone through — including the parade of awards, international performances, relationships and that incident with Kanye West — since Fearless came out, she'll have no shortage of subjects to talk about.
