It has been a few years since Christina Aguilera has been in our lives and on stage at the MTV Movie Awards. But in the coming months, all of that will be remedied. Not only will she release her new album Bionic (which features the just-released single "Not Myself Tonight") on June 8, but the singer will also perform live at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, which will air live from Los Angeles on Sunday, June 6.
"MTV has always been a supporter of my music and my career," Aguilera said. "I am so excited to perform once again on the Movie Awards."
Aguilera last played the big show in 2006, when she took the stage for a manic performance of "Ain't No Other Man" (from her 2006 album Back to Basics). She has a long history of MTV performances. Her on-screen shows include a performance at the MTV New Year's Eve show in 2000 (making her the first artist to perform on the network in the new millennium), a spot with Britney Spears and Madonna at the 2003 Video Music Awards and a run through "Lady Marmalade" (along with Pink, Mya and Lil Kim) at the Movie Awards in 2001. She even hosted the 2003 MTV Europe Music Awards.
But our favorite on-air performance from Aguilera remains her last appearance at the MTV Movie Awards in 2006. She tore through her single "Ain't No Other Man" with reckless abandon, showing off her killer pipes for an instantly classic bit of television. Check it out, and be sure to stay tuned for more on the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, which will be hosted by Aziz Ansari and air live on Sunday, June 6.
