There are a lot of icy stares being traded at NBC right now, what with the late-night shakeup involving the network, Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien.
And speaking of icy, we braved the freezing outdoors around the campus of New York University to get your opinions on Conan, Leno and seemingly indestructible veteran David Letterman.
While very little love was offered to Leno (“Just because his show isn’t working out doesn’t mean it’s okay to bump Conan,” explained Kendra Seay), there was no shortage of sympathy for the stuck-in-the-middle O’Brien. “Now they’re pushing Conan back; he hasn’t had a chance to really settle into his slot yet,” said a fan.
O’Brien’s plan has yet to be revealed. He might walk away from his deal with NBC completely (his contract allows for that) or he might fight through it and inhabit the 12:05 a.m. slot that NBC is currently planning (as George Koch paraphrased from last week’s Weekend Update line, “I just think it’s funny now, because ’The Tonight Show’ is no longer tonight — it’s tomorrow”). There have also been whispers that he could head to Fox (or perhaps he’ll take one of the suggestions we offered up earlier today).
What do you think? Who is your favorite late-night host? If Conan, Leno and Letterman all went head-to-head at 11:35, which one would you choose? Leave your thoughts in the comments or tweet us @mtvnews.
