Spotted: Karen O Glows Down Under

Every day a multitude of stars wanders through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

All across the United States, cities are experiencing record low cold snaps. Normally reasonable places like Dallas and Los Angeles are experiencing record lows, and you can forget about Minneapolis (currently feels like -14 degrees) or Fargo (currently feels like -34 degrees). It's not weather, it's a national emergency. But on the other side of the equator, Australia is enjoying its summer, which also means they are knee-deep in their festival season. Earlier today at the Sunset Sounds Festival in Brisbane, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs took the stage and blew through a rugged set of tunes. Singer Karen O didn't disappoint, as she danced across the stage while wearing a wacky-looking neon headpiece. She may not be eligible for an Oscar, but she can feel good about putting together one of the best film scores of the year in "Where the Wild Things Are."

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs aren't the only stars who bolted for the sake of warmer climates, as Rihanna was last scene in Mexico and Susan Boyle headed to Japan.
