Rihanna's 'Wait Your Turn (The Wait Is Ova)' Video: Old School Cool

The video for "Wait Your Turn (The Wait is Ova)," the latest track from Rihanna's eagerly-anticipated upcoming album Rated R, just hit the Web. (You can check it out at Rihanna's official site.) The track trades in the pulsating cool of "Russian Roulette" for a tougher, synth-heavy tune. Interestingly, it's another ballad, though it sounds like it could be easily sped up a few beats per minute and morph into a true disco banger (in fact, the snippets from the promo video announcing the album featured Rihanna singing "the wait is over" in a speedier fashion). Regardless, it's another passionate track for the singer, and it builds the case that Rated R will be a deep and complicated album that may be short on pop hooks. (While "Wait Your Turn (The Wait is Ova)" has a gorgeous chorus, it's certainly not a karaoke song.)

The video, on the other hand, is an instant classic. There was plenty of speculation about what it would look like after a few set photos showed up on the Web, but luckily Rihanna went the simple route. Shot in ultra-cool black and white, the singer poses in front of a skyline, inside a church and on a bridge, all while sporting her sleek black wardrobe. In the clip's finest moment, Rihanna wears angel wings. They don't seem to have any particular purpose (except maybe to reference Mariah Carey's Halloween costume), but it's a stunning image nonetheless.

What do you think? Is "Wait Your Turn (The Wait is Ova)" a keeper or a clunker? And what about the super-cool video? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
