Not content just to blow our minds with the original version of "Love Lockdown" he leaked last week, Kanye West wrote on his blog Monday that he was finishing a new version of the song that’s closer to the one he debuted at the VMAs — and it was posted on his blog Tuesday (September 16).
"Your prayers have been answered!! There's a new version of 'Love Lockdown' coming," he wrote. "We used new taiko drums, and I re-sung it. ... It's being mastered now."
Ever the perfectionist, 'Ye unveiled a new version of the single's deflated balloon heart artwork as well, with "perfected type 4 all design snobs."
As an aside, West had bad news for those Auto-Tune haters who didn't love the heavily warped vocals on the first version of the song (which you can still listen to on his blog). "If you don't like Auto-Tune, too bad, 'cause I love it and have been using it since The College Dropout!!!
Between producing tracks for Jay-Z's upcoming Blueprint 3 and getting arrested for airport paparazzi smackdowns, West has been working on some different tracks for his upcoming 808's & Heartbreak album, which is reportedly slated for release on December 16.
If that album does come out before the holidays, it's likely to face some stiff competition from 'Ye's chart rival from last year, 50 Cent, who recently said he's looking forward to another head-to-head with West. In which case, might we suggest Kanye stop remaking songs and get to work cooking up some fresh tracks to fill out the album?
