The book is “Scan,” by Pouya Shahbazian (a.k.a. Walter Jury) and co-author Sarah Fine (a.k.a. S.E. Fine), an action sci-fi story that has all the zany contraptions and crazy antics and secret aliens a girl could ever want. And today, we’ve got the special EXCLUSIVE debut of its bee-yoo-tiful cover, which we are simultaneously salivating over and terrified by, because that thing in the top right-hand corner is super scary and eeeeaaaagh I think it’s looking at me.
The story goes like this: “Scan”’s hero is a 16-year-old boy who’s been raised all his life for a very special purpose. What purpose? He’s not sure, but it probably has something to do with the fact that—whoops!—he’s actually one of the last real human beings left on earth. And when he inadvertently triggers an interplanetary catastrophe, he and his girlfriend must flee for their lives from the government officials who are hunting them. (And by “government officials,” we may or may not mean “evil alien overlords wearing people suits.”)
The book will be released in May 2014. And with one of its authors already a kind-of-a-big-deal dude in Hollywood—Pouya Shahbazian is, after all, one of the producers on the “Divergent” movie—we think it’s a fair bet that “Scan” will be on its way to a movie deal by the time its sequel, “Burn,” comes out in 2015.
Check out an interview with Pouya at The Hollywood Reporter.
